    Description

    The Workers' Compensation Coordinator will report to the Assistant Director of FH Outpatient Clinic and the Vice President of Human Resources for Forrest Health. They are responsible for overseeing workers' compensation activities for Forrest Health facilities and ensuring timely processing of workers' compensation claims. Maintaining workers' compensation claims from start to finish, including reporting, investigating and tracking claims. Monitors all open claims in accordance with FH processes. Gathering information essential to filing workers' compensation claims. Ensures that data is entered timely and accurately. Responsible for data entry, generating reports and trending data for the workers' compensation program. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies. Serves as the main point of contact for employees regarding workers' compensation issues, providing guidance and support throughout the claims process. Ability to address all concerns the injured worker may have and direct them to appropriate agency. Coordinate with Human Resources, supervisors, and injured employees to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all workplace injuries and illnesses. Facilitate workers' compensation training, in assigned department(s), for supervisors, new employees and post-incident. Facilitate modified duty and transitional duty assignments. Resolves payroll discrepancies for underpayment and overpayment. Liason with workers' compensation carrier, legal professionals and healthcare providers to facilitate the timely processing of claims and effective communication between all parties involved. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the injured workers, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Assist case manager with coordinating and scheduling medical appointments, evaluations, and treatments for injured worker as necessary. Assist in monitoring the progress of the injured worker recovery and provide regular updates to Human Resources, supervisors/managers, and workers' compensation carrier. Assist in developing and implementing safety programs and initiatives to prevent workplace injuries and promote safety. Assist with conducting regular audits and reviews of the workers' compensation program and claim data to identify trends, patterns and opportunity for improvement. Stay current with changes in workers' compensation laws and regulations to ensure compliance and recommend changes in policy or procedure as needed.

    • Demonstrate the ability to perform general clerical duties in a healthcare setting including but not limited to answering phones, taking and routing messages for the appropriate personnel, and scheduling injured workers' appointments
    • Demonstrate the ability to gather and file claim information accurately
    • Ensure accurate reporting and filing of work related claims.
    • Demonstrated the ability to perform attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping and documentation.
    • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously and to meet deadlines
    • Ability to take initiative and work independently
    • Demonstrate knowledge of workers' compensation laws, procedure, rules and regulations and be able to answer routine questions regarding such
    • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with patients, their family members and supervisors, etc.
    • Ability to empathize and provide support to the injured employee.
    • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
    • Ability to effectively communication complex information to the injured worker, case manager, insurance providers and legal team
    • Demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making skills to assess and assist workers' compensation carrier with determine the validity of claims
    • Demonstrate the ability to adapt work habits to new or unexpected circumstances
    • Demonstrate the ability to tolerate demanding task and handle stressful situations
    • Demonstrate the ability to work in a high paced work environment, multitasking, while delivering quality patient care services
    • Ability to maintain and monitor the performance of the workers' compensation program.
    • Ability to train supervisors and managers on how to complete workers' compensation claim for with injured worker
    • Ability to work closely with supervisors and managers to fill out necessary paperwork to file claim and explore possible solutions to prevent future incidents
    • Ability to manage database of injuries of employees in the workplace Assist in monitoring department compliance with WC policy and guidelines
    • Generate reports as needed for the workers' compensation programs
    • Other tasks as assigned.
    Qualifications:

    Education/Skills

    Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field is preferred. May substitute with prior work experience in related field. Prior knowledge of workers' compensation claims process and law preferred. Understanding of medical terminology and healthcare processes related to workers' compensation claims. Prior experience working with insurance providers, legal professionals and healthcare providers related to workers' compensation claims. Typing speed of wpm required. Computer literacy/competency required.

    Work Experience:

    2 or more years experience in workers' compensation is preferred.

    Mental Demands:

    Ability to perform repetitive tasks, cooperate with others, follow directions precisely, and

    demonstrate initiative. Able to prioritize and meet project deadlines; have good written and

    verbal communications skills. Strong communication skills are essential. Ability to maintain

    rapport and project a professional image. Must enjoy people and desire to assist doctors,

    patients, fellow employees, and hospital staff. Must be willing to cooperate with others, take

    orders, and follow directions. Must exercise a high degree of tact, poise, and patience in

    dealing with the public. Individual must have a high energy level and be capable of handling

    pressure situations both mentally and physically. Ability to handle stressful situations.
