The Patient Care Coordinator is accountable and responsible for managing the clinical care of course of treatment of a number of patients. Coordination of care is accomplished through collaboration with physicians, associate staff, and other health care providers to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved within the projected course of treatment using the nursing process. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Reports directly to the Oncology Service Line Administrator/Radiation Oncology Director.

Performance Expectations:

• Complies with Director's/PCM's expectations.
• Coordinates and manages all nursing care for Radiology Departments.
• Working knowledge of proper administration of conscious sedation protocols. Can train other nurses as required.
• Collaborates with physicians, colleagues, and other health care providers to ensure patient outcomes are achieved within the projected course of treatment in the nursing process.
• Oversees and makes necessary staffing adjustments to ensure appropriate clinical care in all areas.
• Assists and performs required nursing functions when required.
• Performs chart audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation, and addresses deficiencies with nursing staff.
• Acts as a liaison between patients, staff, and physicians when required.
• Ensures staff accountability and holds staff accountable when necessary through disciplinary process.
• Knowledgeable of hospital nursing regulations and enforces them accordingly in department operations.
• Performs DNV inspections and audits when requested by the department director, and/or PCM.
• Demonstrates knowledge to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their specific needs.
• Demonstrates proper usage of radiation protection devices when required.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the State of Mississippi. BSN preferred.

Work Experience:

Minimum of two years as a staff RN in an acute setting required, with six months being at Forrest General Hospital preferred.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

• Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS

• Basic Life Support
