***: This position is located in the St. Augustine Field Office. This is a full-time position that provides squad support to the field office by initiating or assuming leadership in researching the sophisticated or complex persons, organizations, businesses, and other entities involved in criminal activity to determine the structure and scope of criminal operations.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Specific duties include:

  • Independently preparing analytical reports, summaries, assessments, and conclusions on investigations or intelligence collection efforts and presenting analytical findings;
  • Generating and testing hypotheses and conclusions and identifying gaps in information and proposing recommendations;
  • Conducting threat, vulnerability, and/or consequence assessments;
  • Ensuring all privacy, confidentiality, civil rights, and civil liberties protections are met during the intelligence cycle and for all analytic products;
  • Assembling and arranging documents for trial purposes and preparing a variety of related reports, graphs, charts, and exhibits to assist investigative personnel and prosecutors with grand jury and trial;
  • Testifying before grand juries and criminal trials on information developed during investigations and criminal cases when required to do so;
  • Operating computers, programs, and other technical or electronic equipment when necessary, and maintaining a working knowledge of all available programs applicable to analytical duties;
  • Reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing current intelligence data, current events, publications, and online postings related to criminals and criminal activity, crime trends, and the impact of specific crimes within the area and keeping abreast of new sources of information, developments, and technology;
  • Establishing and maintaining liaison and/or coordinating interagency contacts among FDLE entities and/or other law enforcement agencies; and
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners to discuss and exchange products and information, attending various intelligence unit meetings and obtaining and maintaining membership and professional certification with accredited organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency can substitute on a yearforyear basis for the required college education.
  • Any combination of education or experience, as described above.
  • Completion of a 720hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required education.


Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


  • Knowledge of report writing technique;
  • Knowledge of research and intelligence analysis techniques;
  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques for effective verbal and written communication;
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize criminal intelligence data and to determine the significance, completeness and usefulness of the data;
  • Ability to review large amounts of criminal intelligence data and to determine the significance, completeness and usefulness of the data;
  • Ability to write reports, investigative summaries and memoranda resulting from information analysis;
  • Ability to report information clearly, concisely and accurately, both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

BASE SALARY:


Crime Intelligence Analyst I
$40,000 - Bachelor's degree*
Crime Intelligence Analyst II
$43,000 - Bachelor's degree* and one year of analytical** experience.


Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst I
$45,000 - Bachelor's degree* and three years of analytical** experience.


Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst II
$54,000 - Bachelor's degree* and five years of analytical** experience.

  • A master's degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience.
