    Chief Research Officer - Dallas, United States - Parkland Hospital

    Primary Purpose
    Provides medical leadership, strategic direction, and clinical oversight for Research services and programs at Parkland Health. Develops clinical standards and guidelines for Research initiatives, ensuring adherence to exceptional clinical practice and regulatory requirements. Responsible for supporting financial and administrative activities to achieve organizational goals. Acts as the medical expert and professional liaison to ensure high-quality, safe, and compliant research services.

    Minimum Specifications

    Education

    • Doctoral trained candidate with a preference for a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree.

    Experience

    • Three to five years of experience as a medical director preferred.
    • Experience in leading Research programs and building relationships with healthcare providers.

    Equivalent Education and/or Experience


    - If Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy:

    • Must be licensed for the practice of medicine in the State of Texas or obtain license within 6 months of hire.
    • Must meet licensing and registration requirements as per Parkland Health policies.

    • Establishes plans with mid-to long-term impact on function results.

    • Knowledge in leading and managing complex processes.
    • Understanding of compliance and regulatory policies for research enterprises.
    • Experience with national research organizations and external funding opportunities.
    • Record as Principal Investigator in Research and successful funding opportunities.


    - Communication & Influence

    • Influences policies and procedures within and outside the department.
    • Communicates with senior leadership regarding operations and initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    1. Serves as the executive expert in Clinical and Health Systems Research, focusing on factors contributing to health disparities. Presents findings and provides expertise to advisory panels.
    2. Advances Clinical and Health Systems research strategy with UT Southwestern and Parkland Health staff, attracting funding for research.
    3. Implements goals to support Parkland Health's Clinical Research initiatives with nursing and administrative leadership.
    4. Collaborates with external education organizations for research initiatives.
    5. Motivates professionals to participate in research and increases patient and community involvement.
    6. Participates in committees and quality improvement activities to ensure discipline representation.
    7. Collaborates with Population Health for Community Health Needs Assessment.
    8. Identifies research opportunities aligning with Parkland's priorities.
    9. Leads clinical and epidemiologic research supporting Parkland's mission.
    10. Contributes to departmental plans and mentors emerging talent.

    2. Stays updated on industry developments and integrates knowledge into practices.
    3. Maintains knowledge of laws and guidelines impacting the area to ensure compliance.
