Nathan Paul

I am a rising Junior at UT Austin with a Neuroscience major. I am very passionate about healthcare sciences with an emphasis to enrich the community I live in. I would be fortunate to get an internship in a prestigious institution like UT southwestern.

I was able to explore more about the university while attending the STARS program for the 3 years of my high school, the last one being under the direct mentorship of Dr.Joel Goodman.

Internal Medicine Associates of South Dallas Summer 2021 • 40 hrs/wk, 9 wks/yr Medical Scribe & Assistant 

Worked directly under Dr. Ashwani Srivastava and assisted in the daily management and upkeep of patient catalogs, insurance filings, and online records 

Followed physician throughout the work day, gathered the information for patient visits, and charted for the physician during medical examinations 

Daily updated patient information into electronic health records 

Handled office calls, greeted patients, and rescheduled appointments, as well as general maintenance such as cleaning and organizing files

UT Southwestern STARS Research Program Research Intern Summer 2019 • 50 hrs/wk, 8 wks/yr 

Independently researched the effect of seipin protein on lipid droplet morphology in the Goodman Lab at UT Southwestern Medical Center 

Discovered an important correlation between the structure of the linker region in seipin protein and phenotypic expression of lipid droplets, and presented findings at an official panel at the STARS Expo 

Was personally invited by Dr. Joel Goodman to continue research in the summer of 2020, but unfortunately cut short due to covid concerns
