    AARPs Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group includes Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy and Strategic Communications. Across paid, earned, shared and owned channels, ICM manages AARPs reputation, drives engagement and member growth, and showcases AARPs mission and value through one, integrated voice.

    Are you a digital marketing or communications student with an excellent eye for detail and strong writing and communication skills? The Digital Customer Relationship Management team seeks an enthusiastic marketing student to assist our full-time staff with daily email and SMS marketing support. Though this role encompasses diverse digital marketing tasks, it will primarily focus on the candidate's experience and skillsets. We're looking for candidates who are quick, eager learners and have a background in digital marketing and/or communication. This paid internship has an anticipated start of Summer 2024 with the option to continue for additional semesters.

    Responsibilities:
    • Assist with short message service (SMS) marketing and email communications and management
    • Collaborate with a variety of internal clients and external agencies to help meet their marketing objectives
    • Gain experience working with leading marketing software such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Target, SharePoint, JIRA, Confluence, and Tableau
    • Prepare executive-level presentations while learning important management skills, including project management, meeting management, budgeting, and reporting
    • Improve the customer experience by mapping journeys, monitoring listening platforms, and sharing insights
    • Proof emails and SMS campaigns, create and manage content on internal sites, and help with tracking and analytics
    Qualifications:
    • Prospective interns must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students; and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship
    • Pursuing a degree in marketing or a related field, digital marketing preferred
    • Experience creating marketing plans, relevant coursework, and managing projects in a work or classroom setting
    • Ability to work with internal stakeholders, including business unit leads, digital channel leads, and Product, Development, Membership, or Analytics team members
    • Creative thinking and problem-solving; leveraging technology to solve business problems in a production environment
    • Prior experience with email, social, or mobile marketing preferred
    • Strong organizational and documentation skills, i.e., note-taking, QA/Testing documentation

    Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

    AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

    Compensation and Benefits

    The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
