- The Staff Attorney performs intake and provides referrals, advice, brief service, or representation in a variety of civil legal matters affecting seniors prioritizing public benefits, home defense, probate, long-term care, elder abuse, neglect and exploitation, and consumer law.
- The Staff attorney also performs outreach and community education and works collaboratively with attorneys in Georgia Senior Legal Aid and the Home Defense Program.
- A Georgia bar license is required and three (3) or more years of relevant legal experience is preferred.
- Applicants must possess excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills and a strong work ethic.
- Communication and listening skills, the ability to work on a team and alone, adaptability, eagerness to learn and openness to evaluation, and an appreciation of diversity are required.
- A demonstrated commitment to public service, participation in law school clinics, trial advocacy courses, previous work with seniors and/or low-income people, and knowledge of elder and poverty law issues are preferred.
- Proficiency in languages other than English and a willingness to improve language skills are highly valued.
- The salary for 3 years of legal experience is $59,600. Salaries increase annually based on a salary scale.
