    Job Title: Attendance Clerk

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    Maintains records pertaining to pupil attendance and assists with attendance matters as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    1. High School diploma or GED equivalent.
    2. Experience with personal computers is required.
    3. Experience working with a telephone system is required.
    PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
    1. Report to work regularly and on time, prepared to perform appropriately assigned duties throughout the day, in service to students, staff, and the community.
    2. Prepare for and perform all assigned duties required by one's job description in a positive and collaborative manner.

    4. Identify, report, and/or if possible control unsafe conditions or safety hazards in order to maintain safe and secure working and learning environments.
    5. Demonstrate professional respect and integrity when interacting with students, parents, staff, community members and other stakeholders. This includes and is not limited to verbal, nonverbal, personal and electronic interactions.
    6. Comply with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines that prohibit coercive, harassing, threatening, retaliating, bullying or discriminating conduct.
    7. Communicate in a truthful, timely, compassionate, and empathetic manner about any matter of interest to the District following the appropriate chain of authority.
    8. Manage District property and assets in an ethical and responsible manner in accordance with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
    9. Maintain confidentiality of information as required under federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
    10. Report actions, through the appropriate chain of authority that may represent violations of federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
    11. Refrain from unethical activity that may reasonably interfere with the legitimate operational interests and goals of the District.
    12. Comply with all other federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Issues absence and tardy slips to students as needed.
    2. Provides attendance information to parents, guidance counselors, teachers and principals.
    3. Informs students on matters of their attendance and tardiness and works with student to improve their attendance record.
    4. Communicates with parents when students have been identified as absent by the teacher but have not been reported absent by a parent.
    5. Sends five, ten, fifteen and twenty-day absence letters to parents.
    6. Completes necessary paperwork for violation of court orders, truancy and others as necessary.
    7. Communicates with probation officers regarding applicable students.
    8. Prepares perfect attendance list at year-end.
    9. Completes attendance reports prior to printing of report cards.
    10. Collaborates with athletic director, coaches and other staff regarding students' eligibility to participate in extra-curricular activities.
    11. Performs backup secretarial duties such as answering telephone, assisting students and parents with questions and miscellaneous typing as needed.
    OTHER INFORMATION ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION
    1. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration.
    2. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    3. Ability to write routine reports and documents.
    4. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community.
    5. Ability to effectively present information to administration, staff, public groups, and/or Board of Education
    6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
    7. Ability to use computers where applicable.
    8. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    9. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
