Duties:


  • Change linen, positions and turns bedridden patients.
  • Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system to determine patients' needs.
  • Assist with retrieving medications from the pharmacy and delivering specimens to the laboratory.
  • Set up equipment and instruments for routine and complex examinations and procedures.
  • Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure, measures and records weight and height and obtains specimens for routine testing.

Conditions of Employment:


  • This position requires the completion of a preemployment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • A Childcare Background Check (CNACI) is required. This position has a specific initial background investigation and periodic reverification requirements since its duties require contact with children.

Specialized Experience:I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes preparing patients for examination, taking patient history and vital signs, assisting providers with procedures, answering patient calls; and utilizing various electronic systems to document patient's chart (i.e., electronic medical record (EMR).

Education:

Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.

Combination of Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
