Duties:


  • Work independently in accordance with methods and practices of chiropractic and established administrative polices as an expert in the field of Chiropractic.
  • Provide care and treatment of the spine
- related (axial) neuro musculoskeletal conditions and non -axial (extremity) conditions excluding fracture, joint dislocation or ligament us disruption as it relates to potential pathology.

  • Consult and advise the MTF leadership on issues surrounding chiropractic care.
  • Evaluate the functioning of the neuromusculoskeletal system using standard system of diagnosis.
  • Diagnose chiropractic condition by questioning, observing and examination of patients as well as reviewing patient's drug therapies, health and medical histories.
  • Order and then analyzes appropriate diagnostic imaging to verify the source of patient's symptoms and to rule out fractures, diseases or osseous pathology.
  • Write prescriptions for orthotic devices, materials and appliances that are made available at the MTF and commonly used by the chiropractic profession.
  • Coordinate plans and revise SOP and guidelines for patient flow, chiropractic care and services rendered at the clinic given the requirement as set by the Commander, Chief of Professional Services.
  • Consult with appropriate specialty care providers to ensure proper therapy and or treatment is offered.
  • Advise, teach and provide consultation to other health care providers (Nurse Practitioners, dentists, etc.).
  • Provide chiropractic consultative services and chart review for quality assurance purposes.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Immunization screening may be required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position requires the completion of a preemployment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent possess and maintain a current, active, valid, and unrestricted chiropractic license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.

Basic Requirements for Chiropractor:


Degree:

Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.

This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Licensure:Applicants must possess a current, active, valid, and unrestricted license as a Chiropractor in a state, the District of Columbia, territory or jurisdiction the United States.

In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions with Chiropractic adjustments of the spine and extremities and for soft tissue treatment; advise patients on recommended course of treatment and follow-up care; and consult with specialty care providers to ensure proper therapy and treatment is offered.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
