    Program Manager TAX Compensation AND Payroll - Irving, United States - Christus Health

    Summary:

    The Program Manager is primarily responsiblefor consulting system-wide on compensation-related tax issues,including payroll (W-2) and independent contractor matters.The payroll department is responsible for payroll taxreporting/compliance, and the Accounts Payable department isresponsible for 1099 reporting/compliance. This role will beresponsible for resolving issues and answering questions raised bythese teams. The Program Manager's secondary responsibility is tocoordinate the system-wide compliance of the partnership taxreporting function for CHRISTUS Health. The 3rd party consultantshandle partnership tax compliance, but the Program Manager will beresponsible for oversight from a central officeperspective.

    Responsibilities:

    • Meets expectations of the applicableOneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, orLeader of Leaders.
    • Meet regularly with HRPayroll contacts and consult as needed on payroll tax relatedissues.
    • Meet regularly with A/P contacts andconsult as needed on independent contractor tax relatedissues.
    • Serve as the primary contact,system-wide, on all compensation related tax issues andquestions.
    • Work with CHRISTUS central officeaccounting teams, other internal stakeholders, and outsideconsultants to standardize and streamline partnership taxcompliance, and to ensure that all necessary compliance has beencompleted.
    • Review partnership tax compliancefilings to ensure consistency on a system-wide basis, with the goalof reviewing these filings for accuracy and completeness as moreexpertise is gained.
    • Assist inadvising/training others within CHRISTUS on compensation-relatedtax issues, as necessary.
    • Ability to engagepeers and other appropriate individuals in gathering requiredinformation, consulting on the compensation function, and incoordinating the partnership tax function.
    • Must be self-motivated, capable of taking initiative, successfullyhandle and prioritize multiple competing priorities, andeffectively manage deadlines.
    • Other duties asassigned by the System Director of Tax or the TaxManager.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, orBusiness-related field is required.
    • Ability toanalyze, research, and interpret compensation-related tax issues,document, and communicate findings.
    • Strongcommunication skills with internal and external customerbase.
    • Compensation-related tax (W-2 and 1099)experience required.
    • Prior experience in a CPAfirm environment or similar, in a tax role, ispreferred.
    • Work experience demonstratingknowledge of general policies and procedures followed in anaccounting/tax department.
    • Experience withadvanced Excel spreadsheet tools preferred.
    • Experience with INFOR accounting software systems is aplus.
    • Certified Public Accountant – CPA ispreferred
