    Job Description

Job DescriptionResearch Associate II/Senior Research Associate
    Protein Engineering & Molecular Sciences

    Company Overview
Repertoire Immune Medicines is a biotechnology company working to unlock and direct the remarkable power of the human immune system to treat cancer, autoimmune disease and infectious disease. The company was founded by Flagship Pioneering on the belief that understanding the repertoire of T cell receptor (TCR)-antigen immune synapses that maintain health and drive disease represents one of the greatest opportunities for innovation in medical science. Repertoire scientists created and developed the DECODETM platform, which allows in-depth characterization of TCR-antigen pairs, and the ability to deploy this information in the form of novel targeted immune medicines to fundamentally reprogram the immune system to kill tumors or induce immune homeostasis.

From its sites in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Zurich, Switzerland, Repertoire's team is creating a new pipeline of therapeutic immune medicines enabled from its DECODE discovery platform. Repertoire is currently using its proprietary platform to discover novel epitopes and TCRs from patients with autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis, creating programmable tolerizing mRNA vaccines to restore immune homeostasis in these indications. In oncology, Repertoire's decoding of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and the antigens they target is enabling development of TCR bispecific therapies and mRNA cancer vaccines to treat solid tumors.

    Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Research Associate II/Senior Research Associate to work on the Protein Engineering and Molecular Sciences (PE&MS) Team to support the discovery and development of protein therapeutics. The candidate will play a key role in discovering novel therapeutics through yeast display-based protein engineering. Drive to execute, experimental rigor, and scientific curiosity are essential for this role.

The candidate will perform all techniques associated with yeast display, including culture and induction of yeast, transformation of yeast with DNA-based libraries, and phenotypic selection using fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) or magnetic activated cell sorting (MACS). The ideal candidate will be proficient with advanced molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, primer design, golden gate cloning, and DNA preparation for sequencing, as well as have bench experience with protein display technologies, preferably yeast display.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Work with the PE&MS Team to design and execute experimental projects under supervision of direct manager and scientific project leads as a key contributor.
    • Use recombinant protein display systems, e.g., yeast, mammalian, or phage display, for various protein engineering applications.
    • Use molecular biology techniques, e.g., DNA isolation and purification from yeast and/or E. coli, PCR, DNA transformation of yeast and/or E. coli, to design and construct DNA libraries.
    • Use FACS and MACS to enrich libraries of displayed molecules for phenotypes of interest and analyze target binding profiles.
    • Maintain and implement good laboratory practices including accurate laboratory notebook (ELN) documentation, instrument and reagent validation, and adherence to lab safety policies.
    • Regularly presents data and analysis at cross-disciplinary team meetings, as well as develop and maintain professional relationships to drive projects forward.
    Qualifications/Experience
    • B.S. or M.S. in Biochemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Immunology, or a similar field.
    • 2 – 4+ years of academic or biotech/pharma laboratory experience.
    • Experience with protein display technologies strongly preferred (e.g., yeast, phage).
    • Demonstrated understanding of complex molecular biology techniques, e.g., PCR, primer design, DNA purification, DNA library design and construction using multiple methods (golden gate cloning, Gibson assembly, SOE), maintenance and culture of yeast and E. Coli.
    • Desire and ability to quickly learn new lab techniques and understand the significance to program goals.
    • Motivated by driving the generation of experimental data at the bench.
    • Knowledge of oncology or immunology is beneficial.
    • Strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and data analysis skills are required.
    • Must work well independently as well as an integral part of the team.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word required and experience with FlowJo and SnapGene preferred.
    • Enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced and quickly changing environment.
Repertoire is committed towards social responsibility and developing an inclusive culture. Much as the power of the immune system lies in the diversity of T and B cells, we believe that our work requires the creativity and ingenuity of a diverse workforce, and we are committed to pursuing that in all facets of the work experience at Repertoire. We will continue to educate ourselves about the inequities and barriers present in our society and act as a company where we can make a difference.
Repertoire is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Recruitment & Staffing Agencies: Repertoire Immune Medicines ("Repertoire") does not accept unsolicited resumes from any source other than candidates. The submission of unsolicited resumes by recruitment or staffing agencies to Repertoire or its employees is strictly prohibited unless contacted directly by Repertoire's internal Human Resources team. Any resume submitted by an agency in the absence of a signed agreement will automatically become the property of Repertoire, and Repertoire will not owe any referral or other fees with respect thereto.
