    Description

    Location: New York, NY or Jersey City, NJ - 5 days onsite

    Duration: 8-month contract (till end of 2024), possibility for extension/hire

    Pay: up to $50/hr

    Must Haves

    • Degree in Accounting or other related fields
    • 2-4 years of experience in accounting/tax
    • Strong analytical skills and detail
    • Proficient with MS Excel and Word; comfortable with learning new tax software applications (One Source and Corptax).
    • Effective communication and interpersonal
    • Enjoys working in a team-oriented
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize

    Plusses

    • Advanced degree in Accounting or Tax preferred, but not required.
    • CPA preferred, but not required
    • Prior experience at Big 4 or Large Investment Bank

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare State tax returns for the Firm's domestic subsidiaries
    • Interact with Controllers and other areas (i.e. – business units, human resources, technology) to obtain information required to calculate and properly report taxable income, prepare required statements and disclosures, and respond to investors
    • Prepare quarterly estimates of taxable income for state tax returns & payments
    • Prepare various calculations required for ASC-740 on a quarterly basis for state purposes
    • Prepare other calculations used for firmwide tax (depreciation, gain/loss, basis, return to provision)
    • Help with other ad hoc assignments/projects
    • Work on tax technical analysis to implement new tax legislation and for various planning & analysis exercises
