    • Description

      The Center for Urban Community Services, a national leader in the development of effective housing and service initiatives for homeless people, invites applications for a Program Director position. CUCS provides comprehensive on-site social services using a recovery orientation, which includes evidence based practices with particular emphasis on mental health and substance abuse recovery.

      Paul's Place is a co-located 24 bed Safe Haven and Drop-In Center located in Manhattan on 14th Street. Services provided include case management, medical and psychiatric treatment, assistance with benefits, and housing placement services. Safe Havens provide a higher level of care in a more flexible environment than traditional shelters, to currently street homeless people who may have a difficult time engaging in structured services, have longer histories of homelessness and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The Drop-In Center operates 24 hours a day and provides immediate needs services such as showers, laundry, storage, and food, as well as case management, referrals to transitional housing and permanent housing placement services to currently street homeless clients.
      Experience managing DHS funded shelters, safe havens and/or drop-in centers preferred.

      Responsibilities:

      The Program Director is responsible for managing the daily operations of the program, ensuring contract compliance, managing facility issues, and meeting or exceeding goals and other performance measures required by funders. This position has significant decision making, supervisory, administrative, program management and service delivery responsibilities, including inter-team coordination and contract, regulatory and policy compliance. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for maintaining good relations with funders and stakeholders, and developing and maintaining a program culture that is person centered, outcome oriented and dedicated to continuous quality improvement.
    Requirements

    Master's degree in social work, mental health counseling, public administration, public health, human service, psychology, or related field.

    •Minimum of 5 years applicable experience with related populations in human services organization.

    •Minimum of 3 years of supervisory/management experience in the last 5 years.

    •LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC preferred.

    •Experience working with the NYC Department of Homeless Services and knowledge of DHS regulations is strongly preferred.

    •Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

    •Excellent leadership and communication skills

    •Good writing and computer skills
