    Mechanical CAD Designer/Drafter II - Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance

    Are you looking to continue your designing and drafting career and wanting to support the United States Navy? If so, we have the perfect opportunity in our Norwich, CT office

    As a Mechanical CAD Designer/Drafter II you will:
    Obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance to work on United States Nuclear Submarine Non-Propulsion Electronic System (NPES) projects.
    Receive robust benefits package that includes Employee Stock Ownership Plan (A week in the life of a Mechanical CAD Designer/Drafter II:
    Conduct ship checks on SSN 688/688I Class, SEAWOLF Class, VIRGINIA Class and OHIO Class (SSBN/SSGN) Class submarines.
    Create 3D solid models to optimize mechanical designs.

    Utilize Standard Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) practice as defined by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME Y14.Develop Lists of Material (LOM).

    AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $21-28/hr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.

    Technical School CAD Certificate or
    Degree in Drafting / CAD Design or Engineering discipline

    Physically capable to conduct ship checks on United States Nuclear Submarines:
    Creating 2D drawings using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drafting software applicationAutodesk AutoCAD desired but not required

    Creating 3D drawings using solid modeling design softwareAutodesk Inventor desired but not required:SOLIDWORKS experience acceptable

    Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint software applications
    Adobe PDF tools
