    Position: Social Worker

    Location: Westlake Elementary School (WES) (grades P-4) and Dover Intermediate School (DIS) (grades 5-6)

    Reports to: Administration (Head Principals, House Principals and Assistant Principals) at WES and DIS

    Work Schedule: Full-time days (203) days; position commences with the school year, which runs August 1, June 30, 2025. Position is contracted through the Cuyahoga County Educational Service Center.

    Salary / Benefits: Competitive salary and fringe benefit package will be offered.

    Job Objective: The social worker will be charged to initiate and provide consultation, linkage, and navigation for school personnel, students, families and the Westlake City School District to identify, target and determine a plan of action for barriers to individual student and family success.

    Responsibilities:
    Key responsibilities of the School Social Worker include, but are not limited to:
    • Work collaboratively with the school counselors and other school personnel to identify barriers to student success;
    • Maintain an ongoing counseling schedule and caseload (group, individual and/or family) with the input of the school counselors and other school personnel;
    • Work collaboratively with school-based leadership to identify needs of students and staff and help to provide professional development and/or information to staff to better understand factors affecting student's performance and behaviors when needed;
    • Accurately data track and progress monitor student caseload;
    • Assist in Functional Behavior Assessments when needed;
    • Work with parents/provide parents with information to facilitate their support in their children's social-emotional needs in school;
    • Assist teachers with needed;
    • Identify and report child abuse and neglect;
    • Coordinate closely with the principals, school counselors and school psychologists to design educational program for students;
    • Assist with non-instructional supervision of students, as needed;
    • Assist the District Diversity Committee, as needed;
    • Identify and Map Community Resources;
    • Consult and problem solve with districts on Tier II/III needs, or framework and multi-involved youth educational and intervention progress; and,
    • Knowledgeable in PBIS framework and initiatives.
    • As needed/requested by the building administration, participate in HB410 attendance meetings, implement effective truancy interventions, coordinate and facilitate family support.
    • Assist School Crisis Team - Thread Assessment and Suicide Intervention
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Current Ohio Social Worker license - LISW Preferred
    • Experience in school based social work preferred
    • Appropriate criminal background check required
    • Experience connecting families with various community based supports and resources
    • Experience working with families of students with mental health needs
    • Ability to develop various family engagement opportunities
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to work and manage responsibilities independently
