Job Title: Paralegal - Litigation

Location: Austin, TX, USA - Remote

Job Type: 30-35 hours per week

Job Description:

We are looking for a well-organized and meticulous paralegal with experience in case management to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in legal procedures, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities:

Case Management: Oversee legal cases from start to finish, including organizing and maintaining case files, tracking deadlines, and coordinating with attorneys, clients, and external parties. Experience with case management tools is a plus.
Legal Research: Conduct legal research using various resources to aid attorneys in case preparation and strategy development.
Drafting Legal Documents: Assist in drafting legal documents like pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence.
Client Communication: Communicate with clients regarding case updates, document requests, and scheduling appointments.
Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with courts and administrative agencies, ensuring compliance with procedural requirements.
Billing and Timekeeping: Aid in tracking billable hours, preparing client invoices, and managing accounts receivable.
Administrative Support: Offer administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling phone calls.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and legal guidelines in all aspects of case management.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field (preferred).
Paralegal certification or equivalent work experience.
3-5 years of demonstrated experience in case management within a law firm or legal department.
Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and document preparation.
Proficiency in legal research tools and software (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, CaseMap).
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team.
Proficient in Excel and Excel formulas (vLookup, hLookup, If functions).
Proficient in Outlook and categorization/flagging within Outlook.

Nice to Have:

Knowledge of California Rules of Civil Procedure and California Rules of Court for case filings/serving of documents.
Experience with case management tools (iManage) is preferred.
Proficient in Spanish.
Local to the Austin, TX metropolitan area.
