- Assist in month-end and quarter-end closes, including tracking and recording journal entries, account and bank reconciliations, and accruals
- Prepare financial statements and support schedules for Balance Sheet and P&L accounts
- Handle complex accounting functions such as revenue recognition on various contracts, preparing film amortization entries, and reviewing film ultimates
- Report project costs for new deals, including podcast and film production, festival events, and print and advertising campaigns
- Prepare debt schedules and calculate interest expenses
- Prepare budget templates for new projects
- Account for actual costs and perform various analyses
- Maintain vendor information in the online banking platform
- Prepare daily cash-on-hand schedules
- Support external audits, handle inquiries, and organize deliverables
- Prepare and submit quarterly sales tax returns
- Maintain vendor information and proper tax reporting forms
- Review invoice coding and prepare aging reports
- Review employee expense reports for policy adherence
- Understand producer fee revenue recognition for key contracts
- Create and send invoices to studio partners and fulfill POs in studio vendor systems
- Invoice studio bill back charges
- Assist with development and improvement of accounting processes, including system implementation/modification and testing
- Innovate and create Excel templates to streamline and improve processes
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Self-starter, motivated, and detail-oriented
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and functions
- Experience managing processes and projects involving cross-team collaboration
- Hands-on experience with multiple companies and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
- Excellent computer skills, experience with accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and advanced Excel skills
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and NetSuite

About the Role:
The Director of Accounting will be a hands-on leader, responsible for spearheading the month-end close process and quarterly reporting to investors. This role involves researching various accounting topics, staying up-to-date with ASC requirements, and ensuring accurate interpretation of contracts for television shows, films, etc., particularly in terms of revenue recognition.
