    Summary

    Position Highlights:

  • A Research Assistant I position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Tony Amelio in the Department of Tumor Microenvironment and Metastasis at Moffitt Cancer Center.
  • We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and team-oriented individual interested in the tumor microenvironment. The lab focuses on head and neck cancers and understanding the mechanisms that drive immune suppression. Strategies to reengineer the tumor microenvironment for enhanced anti-tumor T-cell function are of particular interest for translational potential as we seek to optimize therapy for patients with advanced disease.

    • Ideal Candidate:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in basic molecular biology and immunology techniques, including PCR, western blotting, flow cytometry, and T cell culture and co-culture.
  • Has experience with culturing mammalian cell lines and primary mammalian cells.
  • Has experience processing human samples ( blood and tumor tissue).
  • Has animal handling experience including mouse husbandry and genotyping.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

    • Responsibilities:

  • The employee will assist the PI and other lab members by performing research and experimentation following established protocols.
  • The employee will also be required to maintain detailed records, follow established protocols, and perform basic data analysis for presentation.
  • Takes inventory and helps with ordering stock laboratory supplies under appropriate supervision.

    • Credentials and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in a relevant field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Hands-on research experience.
