    Electrician Supervisor - Washington, United States - Architect of the Capitol

    Summary

    This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief of Operations, Superintendent, House Office Buildings, Assistant Director, Facilities Operations Division, Electrical Branch, Electrical Day, Evening and Night Sections. The incumbent is an Electrician Supervisor and oversees the operations of the assigned Electrical Section in support of the House Office Buildings (HOB).

    Duties

    Tour of duty hours will be 2 pm to 10:30 pm. The hours may change due to operational needs.

    This position is emergency essential - Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situations.

    Position is eligible for shift differential - 7.5% of basic pay.

    The individual selected for this position will:

  • Plan the use of subordinate workers' equipment, facilities and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.
  • Establish deadlines, priorities and work sequences and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods and policies set by higher level management.
  • Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. Determines how many assignments can be done concurrently, which ones can be delayed and the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, material and equipment available and required.
  • Assigns work to employees directly and through leaders and provides technical direction and/or assistance in accomplishing the work.
  • Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Counsels employees on performance, sets performance standards and makes formal appraisals of subordinates' work performance.
  • Serves as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) to ensure accurate and adequate oversight of contractor performance according to contract requirements. Performs timely inspections to ensure compliance with job specifications, quality, timeliness and budget authorizations.
  • Responsible for utilizing a thorough knowledge of and compliance with applicable AOC and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and to initiate or take corrective action on unsafe conditions in managed areas. Provides or receives training, either on the job or through classroom training, to ensure that required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is utilized. Routinely checks to verify that subordinates are using all required PPE.
