    • Your primary responsibility will be predicting and modeling the aerothermal characteristics of various air-vehicle configurations including hypersonic re-entry vehicles, supersonic, and hypersonic air-breathing concepts
    You will primarily use CFD simulations to make these predictions, but also use first order prediction tools as appropriate.

    • You will define aerodynamic and thermal protection system requirements along trajectories and perform analysis to predict performance and survivability of various hypersonic vehicle systems.
    • You will plan, conduct, or direct wind tunnel tests and perform post-test analysis to render data into high fidelity models
    You will support associated test activities including pre-test predictions, test design, instrumentation requirements, and documentation.

    • You will lead and contribute to planning activities for future projects and initiatives while providing technical guidance for ongoing projects.

    • Have a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another related technical discipline.
    • Have at least five years of relevant experience in conducting CFD simulations, running wind tunnel tests, or analyzing and developing aerodynamic models.
    • Have prior experience coding and using MATLAB scripts and functions.
    • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Are willing and able to travel occasionally to attend meetings or tests at other government and contractor sites.
    • Are comfortable working in closed area facilities.
    • Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance by your start date
    If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information

    • Have a Ph.

    degree related to hypersonic aerothermodynamics or equivalent experience in weapon system design and development with a focus on aerodynamics or aerothermodynamics.


    • Have working knowledge of boundary layer transition (BLT) and applying BLT tools (such as STABL, STABL3D, LASTRAC, or EPIC).
    • Have experience with CFD++, US3D, or other advanced CFD codes, as well as experience generating CFD meshes (Pointwise, Link3D, GridPro).
    • Have strong programming skills in Linux Bash (or similar shell equivalent), Python, C++, etc.
    • Have demonstrated initiative, motivation, and flexibility
