\r\r\r\rThe Banking Department Manager will:\r\r\r
Supervise staff including analysts and examiners.\r
Review and approve examination reports including the most complex examinations when needed.\r
Oversee the applications functions related to regulated entities.\r
Assist with defining division goals and objectives.\r
Assist with developing and implementing division policy and operating procedures to gain operational efficiencies.\r
Oversee the ongoing development of staff by ensuring that skills are continuously enhanced.\r
Coach and mentor new hires including delivery of division training programs.\r
Evaluate staff including annual performance appraisals.\r
Interpret and provide guidance to staff on pertinent banking laws and regulations.\r
Recommend new or revised legislation.\r
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory process.\r
Facilitate resolutions of consumer complaints.\r
Recommend disciplinary action against regulated entities as appropriate.\r
Coordinate joint exams or investigations with federal regulators and/or other states\r
Attend meetings and maintain communication with federal and other state regulators.\r\r\rABOUT US\r\r\rThe Connecticut Department of Banking is the primary state regulator for state-chartered banks and credit unions, securities, and consumer credit.
Its mission is to protect users of financial services from unlawful or improper practices by ensuring regulated entities and individuals adhere to state banking, consumer credit and securities laws.
The Department accomplishes this through regular, thorough, and cost-effective examinations of the entities it supervises.The Department also engages the public and other stakeholders through a variety of media platforms, educational outreach initiatives, and press communications.

In the Department of Banking this class is accountable for managing the staff and operations of a major sub-unit or regulatory program of a Division.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Nine (9) years of professional experience involving one or more of the following areas: regulation of financial institutions or other entities regulated by the Department of Banking; accounting, auditing or finance work in financial institutions regulated by the Department of Banking.
\rMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
\rTwo (2) years of the General Experience must have been in advanced working/lead capacity over professional staff
\r\r\rNOTE:
For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of an Associate Financial Examiner.\r\r
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
\r\r
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
A Master's Degree in business, accounting, finance or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\r
Experience in managing, supervising, or leading staff.\r
Experience with the operations of Financial Institutions.\r
Experience assessing or auditing for compliance with laws and regulations pertinent to the industries that the Department of Banking regulates including but not limited to Banks and Credit Unions.
Experience communicating across all levels of an organization.\r
Experience with Financial Institutions regulated by the Department of Banking including but not limited to: Banks and Credit Unions.\r\r\r
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.\r
