The Distribution Center (DC) Manager is responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation of a regional distribution center
JOB SUMMARY:
The Distribution Center (DC) Manager will perform various management duties including but not limited to, P&L management, planning, scheduling, and directing the day-to-day activities of the DC.
The DC Manager focuses on safety, customer service, productivity, order and inventory accuracy, and staff development.Additionally, the DC Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that drive continuous process improvements that maximize efficiencies and reduce operating costs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment while focusing on minimizing work-related injuries and complying with OSHA and company guidelinesManage a collaborative safety program that promotes team member engagementRecruit, hire, train, evaluate, and coach DC team membersLead DC team in achieving aggressive goals as outlined in key performance indicators (KPIs) of safety, customer service, inventory accuracy and operating costsResponsible for the financial performance of the DC, including effective payroll management, budgets and P&L statementsChampion continuous process improvement and implement best practices that drive peak DC performance and customer servicePlan and conduct regular staff meetings to inform, educate and recognize team members as well as provide a forum for exchange of ideasEnsure inventory accuracy is maintained through proper receipt activities, product movements, accurate shipments, cycle counting, and facility security proceduresServe as a subject matter expert (SME) for SAP Warehouse Management (WMS)Utilize the progressive discipline policy to address team member performance issues in an appropriate and timely mannerDelegate tasks as needed and follow-up with team members to ensure that tasks are being completedHands-on execution of all daily operationsEnsure facility and company assets are properly secured and maintained for operational readinessExecute company policies, procedures, and programs in a professional and timely mannerModel the Love's core values of Focus on the Customer, Integrity, Strong Work Ethic, Innovative Thinking and PerseveranceServe as onsite forklift trainerOther duties assigned as needed
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
HS Diploma or equivalentBachelor's Degree in Business Management, Operations, Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain or equivalent experience preferred
Experience:
Minimum of twoyears of proven leadership experience in a distribution or manufacturing environmentInventory Control experience with hands-on management of merchandise and supplies
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and warehouse management systemsBackground in SAP WM strongly preferredMust be well versed in warehouse operationsMust be strategic and analytical, grasping complex situations and quickly develop plans to deliver resultsExcellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels of the company and able to adjust message according to the audienceExceptional organizational skillsTeam player with time management skills, can-do attitude, sense of urgency and strong work ethic
Typical Physical Demands:
Very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and working from elevated surfacesFrequently lift and/or move over 75 poundsManual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculatorRequires normal range of hearing and vision

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working within a fast-paced distribution center and tire retread plant environment where there may be wide temperature variations depending on weather conditions.
While performing duties, the employee is frequently exposed to dirt, dust, rubber smells and debris, cleaning solutions as well as powered material handling equipment and commercial truck traffic.
WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, based on business needs
