Essential Functions Of The Role
The Director acts as a knowledgeable resource and main partner for all community members regarding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Being a student advocate, the Director is highly visible and renowned within the campus. Teaching courses and/or electives, advising students (academic and/or extracurricular), and coaching to maintain a strong student-school connection. Acting as a liaison with the Parents Association, local community groups, schools, and other organizations to promote collaboration and align with institutional priorities. Keeping the community updated on all DEIB initiatives, progress, developments, and events.
The Director collaborates with the Senior Leadership Team to implement equity and justice best practices outlined by NAIS and enhance the school's position as a DEIB leader in independent school settings. Working closely with various groups and teams across the school, including but not limited to: the Senior Leadership Team; the Senior Administrative Student Life team; the DEIB team; the Student Life and Wellness team; the Admissions team; the International Students team; and the Communications team. Providing expertise, guidance, and insights to support the achievement of strategic goals within these areas. Acting as a representative of the school and undertaking additional responsibilities and projects as assigned by the Head of School.
Leading efforts to enhance the community's cultural competence and inclusivity for all students, faculty, staff, and families. Developing and promoting various professional development opportunities to address the learning requirements of faculty and staff members. Assessing existing programs and initiatives to reform and introduce new initiatives that cater to the diverse student body and community.
Implementing strategic programs and initiatives across the institution. Providing insights for the advisory, Life Skills, and Wyvern Wellness programs to align with the institution's diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging objectives. Advising and collaborating with the school's families to promote a unified, inclusive community, with a specific emphasis on the needs and experiences of marginalized students and their families.
