Your Impact
Perform electrical engineering design tasks for power systems, electrical distribution, indoor/outdoor lighting, grounding, and lightning protection, as well as systems such as communications, access control, security, IT, and fire alarm in conformance with codes, standards, construction practices, and client's goals.
Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits and controls, facility electrical service and power distribution, as well as lighting photometric calculations.
Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
Dive into the developing energy landscapes of EV charging facilities, PV power generation, hydrogen-fueled vehicle facilities.
Participate in sustainable design projects geared toward energy efficiency, resiliency, and future-proofed infrastructure.
Produce designs and develop construction drawings within software modeling applications such as Revit and AutoCAD.
Support senior engineers and project managers with design and document development.
Under minimal supervision, develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits and controls, facility and electrical service, and power distribution.
Proactively collaborate in-person and remotely with multi-discipline design teams in executing projects.
Expand construction understanding and appreciate our clients' perspectives while assisting with on-site field investigations, construction inspections, and client visits.
Support construction activities such as reviewing shop drawings, responding to contractor's requests for information, and participating in progress meetings.
Complete company training on assigned tasks.
Grow your network and expand your perspective through involvement in local industry organizations, events, and technical committees- active participation and leadership is encouraged and supported by WSP.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering-Electrical.
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in an electrical engineering capacity designing power transmission and distribution systems in utility or industrial/commercial environments.
Experience with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design, and construction.
Experience using the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other electrical standards.
Proficient in technical writing, office and remote communication platforms, mobile technology, spreadsheets, and other software applications.
Experience using software applications Revit MEP or AutoCAD for electrical designs.
Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer in Training Certification.
Prior design experience.
Experience using the NEC.
Experience using software applications:
SKM PowerTools, Bluebeam.
A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
Knowledge of FAA aviation lighting standards.
