    This position may be required to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular in-office hours. Travel is required. Assistant Coach or Associate Head Coach may be offered depending on candidate qualifications and experience.

    Purpose


    To assist the Head Coach in the leadership and management of the Texas Athletics Swim & Dive program and to achieve successful outcomes, including: regular coaching and instruction to student-athletes, administrative functions, and gameday.

    Responsibilities


    • The Assistant Coach is critically involved in all aspects of the program, is given specific autonomy, and shares responsibilities with the Head Coach in such key areas of the program as recruiting, practice planning, player training and development, coordination of team play, coaching tactics/strategies and staff oversight.
    • The Assistant Coach will share responsibility with the Head Coach in establishment/enforcement of team rules and communication with sport operations, compliance, sports medicine, sports science, strength and conditioning, nutrition, behavioral health and academics/student services staff. The Assistant Coach may represent the Head Coach at meetings, fund-raising functions and alumni events. The Assistant Coach is responsible for adhering to University, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations while supporting the core values of intercollegiate athletics.
    • The Assistant Coach has significant responsibility in (but not limited to) these areas: promotion of the team and University, input on scheduling and team travel logistics, fundraising, alumni events and community service, and professional development.
    • Consistently exemplify the core values and quality standards of Texas Athletics. Always act ethically. Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. As an employee of the university, if you witness or receive information about sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence or stalking that involves a current student or employee, you have a duty to promptly report the incident to the University's Title IX Coordinator or a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Reports may be made by phone, email or online. An employee who does not report an incident or who makes a false report is subject to termination and may be charged with a criminal offense (Class A or Class B misdemeanor).     Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree. Experience as a coach or student-athlete in a collegiate athletics or professional program. Provide critical thinking and consultation to achieve positive outcomes. Demonstrated exceptional character traits in integrity and fairness. Professional demeanor. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience coaching NCAA championship-caliber student-athletes. Success in recruiting elite student-athletes. Familiarity with NCAA rules relating to student-athletes and to the recruiting of student-athletes.

    Driving Required

    This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence.

    If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

    Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
