- Leads and participates in committees, work groups, and projects focused on educational activities.
- Promotes and teaches Trauma-Informed Care principles, coaching staff to foster a culture that prioritizes restraint prevention.
- Manages clinical processes and professional practices to ensure high-quality patient care, positive outcomes, regulatory compliance, and ongoing performance improvement.
- Possesses thorough knowledge of patients' legal and human rights.
- If designated, acts as the Human Rights Officer for the unit.
- Provides expertise to patients, families, and staff on regulatory and human rights issues, investigates complaints, and ensures resolution in collaboration with leadership. Attends mandatory annual training.
- Ensures educational standards and competencies for all staff, including those on evening, night, and weekend shifts.
- Adapts schedule as necessary to meet the educational needs of staff on different shifts.
- Develops evidence-based educational materials.
- Teaches relevant content as needed or assigned within clinical expertise.
- Coordinates the orientation process for new staff members.
- Develops and implements education plans for initial and ongoing competency validation.
- Designs and coordinates core educational programs for staff working with psychiatric and substance abuse patients, focusing on orientation, staff development, and safe practice.
- Maintains educational records to comply with regulatory standards.

- BSN is Required.
- Massachusetts Licensed Registered Nurse
- Experience assessing learning needs, developing curriculum, and evaluating the practice of Registered Nurses and other staff within the department of nursing.
- Advanced knowledge of nursing practice in the Behavior Health inpatient setting.
- Demonstrated leadership and educator experience either in a clinical or academic setting.
- Preferred: MSN, APRN.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Psychiatric Nurse Educator specializes in staff development, serving as an educator for those caring for patients with psychiatric and substance abuse issues. The Nurse Educator oversees the educational process by assessing, developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating competency assessments, continuing education, and leadership development. Additionally, the Nurse Educator is responsible for facilitating hospital orientation, clinical competencies, and clinical supervision.
