Responsible for assisting with pacemaker and defibrillator interrogations and related patient care.
Under the supervision of the clinical coordinator, and physician the Cardiac Device Technician will assist in the management of patients with Cardiac Implanted Electronic Devices (CIEDs).
Primarily serving in the ambulatory environment the Cardiac Device Tech will primarily review the documentation of remote pacemaker, ICD, and Implanted Loop Recorder transmissions and alerts.
The Cardiac Device Technician will work in a patient centered environment with a team approach to care.Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: BLS and ACLS
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements preferred:
CCDS, RCES, RCEP, RN, LPN
Experience
REQUIRED:
One (1) year Nursing, Medical Assistant, Exercise Physiologist, Cardiac Device or Cardiac Deviceing experience or a combination of science/healthcare education and/or patient-care related work experience that included arrhythmia interpretation.
Experience PREFERRED:
1 Year of Cardiac Implanted Electronic Device (CIED) management
Academic health care experience
Education/training
REQUIRED:
High school diploma or equivalent
Education/training PREFERRED:
Completion of Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program, or LPN program and licensure
Cardiac Device Educational Program completion from PrepMD or ATI
Independent action(s) required:
Daily review and documentation of remote transmissions
Communicates findings requiring further attention to the responsible MD or APP per clinic guidelines and or provider instructions.
Assists with the management of patients in the remote monitoring program including but not limited to:
Ensuring patient enrollment
Prioritizing reports on a daily basis
Patient notification when necessary
Assisting patients with telephonic transmissions
Assisting patients with troubleshooting their remote monitoring systems
Seeks advice of team members, providers, and industry representatives with necessary
Participates as needed in the ambulatory clinics to interrogate CIEDs with minimal need for provider supervision
Documents in the EHR as required
