- Leads assigned cross-functional team members in the successful development of products (from concept to commercialization) required to support the strategic plan.
- Ensure governance mechanisms, such as core team meetings, key technical design and commercial excellence and industrialization reviews are undertaken in a timely, comprehensive, and effective manner. Develop a mentality of collaboration, execution, and continuous improvement within the program through these mechanisms.
- Lead cross-functional teams through identification of risks & mitigations, problem resolution and root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action. Constructively challenge the team and the organization to rethink assumptions and approach headwinds in new ways. Independently determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
- Accountable to senior leadership team and program management leadership for overall program execution and success
- Maintains the phase schedule and leads cross-functional team(s) through successful completion of the phase review process. Resolves action items initiated at phase reviews
- Ensures that products are launched on time and meet established goals and objectives that support the financial and driven goals of the organization
- Ensures that cross-functional resources are assigned and held accountable for task and outcome completion
- Provides the communication link between the team and Senior leadership team and other partners
- Coaches team members to ensure process adherence and effective project management, applying standard methodology project management skills, as well as framing and resolving issues through the NPD process and other standard methodologies.

- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field is required and post graduate degree (e.g., MBA, other masters or Ph.D) is preferred.
- 10+ years of technical program management experience, from concept through commercialization
- Track record of success in launching programs on or ahead of schedule and under budget.
- Experience in leading programs in medical device, diagnostic or life sciences industries.
- Understanding of regulations, standards and guidelines related to medical devices and quality systems e.g ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820
- Experience working with electromechanical products incorporating hardware, firmware and software
- Taken medical devices from prototype to commercial release
- Demonstrated ability to handle ambiguity, to identify and adapt to changing priorities and competing demands.
- Black Belt and PMP are preferred.
- Change management experience preferred.

Description
Job Description SummaryWe are recruiting for a highly driven cross-functional leader with proven product development and technical leadership experience to drive key strategic initiatives. As the program lead of a cross functional team within a matrix organization, the Senior Program Manager will bring novel medical devices, from concept through development, to formal release, including managing project schedules, identifying and mitigating risks, managing the Design History File and ensuring strong alignment with all program stakeholders. This leader would lead the cross functional team through BD's phase gate product development process from planning to commercialization. He or she represents the program and the program team to executive leadership as well as the global organization.
The Senior Program Manager is accountable for leveraging new and diverse approaches resulting in optimized solutions by leading the team through commercial, regulatory, manufacturing, and technical problem solving and decision making, ensuring that the functional experts are held accountable. This leader also leads and facilitates the decisions related to talent and resource allocations, negotiations and changes working with functional managers and other business leaders.
He or she will have demonstrated experience in successful execution of business strategy, challenging assumptions about the fit of the program within that strategy, and aligning program plans to strategic objectives. He or she will drive for continuous improvement and agility in the process ensuring that program timelines are met or accelerated. A successful candidate for the role will have strong technical aptitude for medical or other regulated products with integrated hardware and software.
