    The Senior State Campaigns Manager will be responsible for leading a portfolio of our No Kid Hungry campaigns in states across the country. This will include responsibility for all programmatic, staffing, and budgetary aspects related to the implementation of the No Kid Hungry campaign plans. This also includes outreach at the state, county and local levels, managing partnerships and grant deliverables, maintaining data and impact reporting, and organizing events and storytelling opportunities. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for leading internal collaboration and project management of cross-department priorities.

    This position requires a high-performing individual capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, collaborative organization. The ideal candidate is a critical and strategic thinker, has strong subject matter expertise and outstanding interpersonal skills, and is proactive, ambitious, and organized.

    This position is preferably based in Washington, D.C. (hybrid 2 days in the office); but could be fully remote for the right candidate living outside of the DC area 30 miles or more. The position offers a range of $81,000-$88,000. Exact compensation within the stated salary range may vary based on skills, experience, internal equity, and geographical location.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with internal and external partners to establish goals, evaluation, program strategies, and work plans to advance No Kid Hungry campaign goals.
    • Develop and execute strategies to communicate with and engage community organizations, direct service providers, state agency staff and leadership, and policymakers, others to increase access to, understanding of, and quality of federal nutrition programs.
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including partner organizations, educators, service providers, and policymakers in order to build sustainable models for No Kid Hungry campaign work.
    • Conduct outreach to school nutrition directors, principals, superintendents, teachers and boards of education in school districts with underutilized child nutrition programs to increase program participation.
    • Provide strategic and technical expertise and assistance for school districts, program sponsors, and state agencies to increase participation in federal nutrition programs.
    • Work with schools, school districts, state agencies and local and state-based organizations to assess their needs in delivering child food and nutrition programs; identifying strategies that can assist in expanding and sustaining their programs and attending local meetings as necessary.
    • Collaborate with colleagues on the State Campaigns, Grants, Center for Best Practices, National Partnerships, Advocacy, Measurement, Planning and Analysis, and Communications teams to develop integrated strategies to support No Kid Hungry campaign plans and facilitate the development of training, technical assistance and solutions to assist No Kid Hungry campaigns.
    • Provide recommendations and actively participate in discussions with internal colleagues about No Kid Hungry campaign strategies, tactics and processes.
    • Manage No Kid Hungry campaign budgets, working with Development and Finance to track expenses, matching funds, and make recommendations on funding distribution and reallocations as needed.
    • Represent Share Our Strength at internal and external conferences and meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree and at least 5-7 years of work experience, with a minimum of two years of demonstrated success in education, grassroots organizing, advocacy, community development, program management, social justice or related field.
    • Knowledge of child nutrition programs preferred.
    • Proven budget management skills, and experience fostering high-level relationships.
    • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities while coordinating workflow in a deadline-driven and service-focused environment.
    • Must be proactive and a self-starter with excellent problem-solving and implementation skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment, lead projects, meet multiple concurrent deadlines, and organize time and priorities.
    • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills: ability to cultivate and maintain relationships across stakeholder groups including partner organizations, government agencies, and school districts.
    • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
    • Ability to travel up to 25%.
    • Demonstrated interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.
