Community Service Aide - Per Diem - County of BergenDepartment of Human Services - Division of Disability Services
Under supervision, performs a variety of routine field and office work; provides information assistance to clients; act as a source of information and referral; and makes referrals to other agencies; does other related duties as required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as the community liaison between the Division and the community.
- Assists in the implementation and delivery of communityoriented service programs which benefit community residents.
- Meets with residents to help determine their home, financial, and social conditions which might qualify them for assistance with various agencies/programs.
- May set up appointments for residents with appropriate public or private agencies.
- May attend community meetings or help organize community residents to work together to deal with specific community concerns.
- May disseminate information on various communityoriented agencies.
- Refers information to appropriate agencies regarding needs for new/altered programs for community residents.
- Conducts surveys, gathers data/information, and projects anticipated problems concerning activities and changes in the community.
- Assist in planning and implementation of events.
Schedule:
- Per Diem up to 29 hours per week.
- Flexible.
Education Requirements:
- Completion of at least 60 credits from an accredited college or university.
Other Requirements:
- Valid New Jersey Driver's License.
- Experience and knowledge working with individuals with disabilities (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel programs.
- Exemplary time management and organizational skills.
- Culturally Competent.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work well in a cooperative, teamoriented environment.
- Bilingual language skills are a plus.
