- Actively participate in development of project deliverables. Plan, organize, supervise, and seal the work of subordinate engineers as required to support projects.
- Support a wide variety of projects that require Owner's Engineering, consulting, and detailed design.
- Design and plan production for structural engineering activities on a wide variety of projects, including foundation design for major equipment, design of support steel for equipment/piping/conduits/access platforms, and other related engineering activities.
- Participate in development of procurement and construction specifications, design reviews and technical assessment of construction progress.
- Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Serve as a structural technical expert in support of consulting and design projects
- Prepare calculations as required to support engineering deliverables and cost estimates.
- Serve as a project manager for select projects, although project management is not the primary focus of this position.
- Be directly involved with local clients in marketing, proposal development, and maintaining client relationships for select projects and clients, although business development is not the primary focus of this position.
- Support proposal development via preparation of structural engineering scope of work and budgets/estimates.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations and industry standards.
- Work cooperatively with others to marketing and production efforts, including Client and Business Development through technical assistance on proposals and pursuits
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
- PE
- Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
- Experience in design calculations and layouts
- Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
- Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- Strong understanding of codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and others.
- Strong communication, listening and mentoring skills
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills
- Computer knowledge Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD, LPile, RISA or similar analytical software
