    *Under direction of the department chief, nurse leader or designee, this registered professional nurse position provides practice management support as well as initiating and/or assisting in the provision of direct patient care to patients, according to established guidelines. The Special Procedure nurse performs a variety of complex tasks which may include assisting in the provision of direct patient care to patients undergoing care in a procedural unit. Delivers specialty specific and/or ambulatory care including pre- and post-procedure assessment and monitoring; IV moderate sedation and intra-procedural care; for example, GYN Surgery, OMFS (Oral Maximus Facial Surgery) and GI procedure patients. Provides telephone triage and clinical advice appropriately; coordinates the follow-up care of patients; Attainment of privileges for IV moderate sedation is required for GI and SPU only.
    *Graduate of a state approved school of nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Possess a current license to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in medical/surgical or ambulatory nursing required; exceptions in consultation with VP of Nursing. Experience with an electronic medical records system, EPIC experienced preferred.
    *Ability to interpret clinical information, assess the implication of treatment and develop and implement a plan of care. Up to date with current standard of nursing care in Specialty. Basic computer skills.
