Position : Staff Accountant
Location : Baton Rouge, LA(On-site)
Duration : Full time & Direct Hire

Essential Job Duties:

Prepares and posts monthly journal entries for recurring transactions.
Approves all purchase requisitions after reviewing the accounting coding.
Analyzes and reviews all SG&A expenses prior to month-end closing.
Ensures accuracy of the transactions versus budget. Reclassifies all necessary transactions and expenses that need to be capitalized and amortized.
Gathers and reviews documentation for capital projects and fixed assets.
Reviews the accuracy of sub-ledgers and trial balance.
Reviews and reconciles monthly balance sheet accounts.
Effectively and efficiently analyzes and reports on gross profit and/or budget variance for areas of responsibility.
Supports management with special projects and workflow process improvements and other duties as assigned.
Maintains knowledge of and ensures all aspects of accounting comply with established policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrates and applies an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Communicates clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles.
Excellent attention to detail.
Knowledge of ERP applications (preferably Oracle).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration is required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the accounting field. Manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience with Oracle preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Typically sits or stands for an extended amount of time in front of a computer.
Ability to communicate or exchange ideas verbally or in writing to impart information to clients or the public and convey detailed instructions to other workers.
Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
