    Job Description

    The Dallas Morning News is looking for a thoughtful, imaginative and highly collaborative quality assurance analyst.

    This quality assurance analyst will be part of a cross-functional agile team whose goal is to work with sprint teams, product managers, engineers, designers and stakeholders to conduct a variety of quality assurance tasks to ensure high-quality delivery.

    The analyst will have opportunities to work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and break them into user stories, develop test plans, test cases and execute test scenarios.

    React, HTML/CSS, Javascript (modularized / functional code, callbacks, DOM manipulation, async processing), JQuery, HTTP / REST / JSON / Websockets (Consuming and exposing APIs), SQL (Mysql / Oracle) / noSQL (MongoDB

    / Elasticsearch )/ Graph (Neptune) - Gremlin, NodeJS, Python, PHP and Google Tag Manager.]


    Responsibilities:


    Act as the primary tester for , including new/updated functionality, subscriptions, online ads, SEO and analytics - across browsers and devices.

    Review business requirements and acceptance criteria, and turn them into test plans and test cases.

    Review and discuss QA requirements per user story with product managers and dev teams, participate in creating and reviewing acceptance criteria.

    Drive testing activities across multiple teams including functional testing, data validation, regression testing, system integration testing, automated testing and user acceptance testing.

    Define manual and automated regression test scope and ensure the practices in place to proactively prevent bugs.
    Document and analyze test results, and work with developers and product managers to identify and fix root cause issues.

    Track and prepare reports on testing activities including testing results, test case coverage, defects discovered and their status and performance.

    Determine test environment requirements, support generation of test data requirements in coordination with product owners and engineering leads.
    Learn, at a detailed level, the user experience and backend processes for which the team(s) is/are responsible.
    Configure, execute and maintain automated testing scripts.

    Basic Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in computer science, equivalent field or equivalent experience.3+ years of demonstrable testing experience.
    Digital media experience is a must.
    Knowledge of current trends and best practices in quality assurance, automated testing and load testing.
    Excellent understanding and knowledge of software quality assurance practice and test methodologies.
    Previous experience with content management systems in media organizations.

    Experience with Javascript, NodeJS or Python using Playwright, Selenium, Jest, Mocha, Enzyme or other technologies, and willing to learn more about web automation.

    Desire to implement automated testing scenarios.
    Experience with at least one or more testing platforms (i.e. SauceLabs, Browserstack, Perfecto).Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment, while being adaptable to change.
    Sharp attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    A strong passion for product quality and continuous willingness to improve the product.

    Deep understanding of testing a variety of products or systems in a high-traffic production environment on mobile and desktop experiences.

    Familiar with tools to track and measure browser performance.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    Proficiency in Google apps, Slack, JIRA, Confluence is preferred.
    Experience in agile software development teams working iteratively with designers, product managers and stakeholders.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience writing SQL, GraphQL or making API queries is a plus.
    Experience creating mock data for features verification.
    Experience with Elasticsearch or similar NoSQL is an asset.
    Experience with Docker or AWS environments is a plus.
    Research and learn new technologies, and share knowledge with the team.
