    Description
    Job DescriptionResponsible for planning, designing, and directing engineering projects by performing the following duties:professional service or creative work, the adequate performance of which requires the specialized knowledge of applied mathematics and sciences, dealing with the design of structures, machines, equipment, utilities systems, materials, processes, works, or projects; the direction of or the performance of engineering surveys, consultation, investigation, evaluation, planning; and professional observation of construction of public and private structures, works, or projects and engineering review of drawings and specifications by regulatory agencies.Responsibilities
    • Performs engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives and involving conventional types of plans and specifications.
    • Review work for the application of sound professional judgment.
    • Design: HVAC, ductwork, piping, plumbing, fire protection, and control.
    • Performs design calculations and prepares equipment or material specifications.
    • Familiar with the AE design process and specifications leading to construction documents.
    • Prepare graphical representations of designs.
    • Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables and supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems.
    • May supervise or coordinate the work of designers and other technical support personnel.
    • Experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants.
    • This position has supervisory responsibilities.
    • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
    • Engineer in Training certification required.
    • Three+ years' experience in mechanical engineering or the equivalent thereof.
    • Ability to perform design calculations using commercially available software.
    • Advanced skillset with MS Office software; including MS Word, Excel and Building Information management (BIM) Revit software and computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.
    • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.
    Preferred Requirements
    • Professional registration in a relevant jurisdiction as a licensed mechanical engineer preferred.
    • PE registration in the State of Alaska preferred.
    Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsWeather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment.Physical requirements:Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.Travel: NoneCompetencies
