    The Building People, LLC, is hiring a Senior Estimating Engineer & Project Manager (Mechanical Engineering, Construction). This role involves collaborating with regional and local facility managers on-site, often in remote areas, working with technical staff nationwide, and liaising with subcontractors both on and off-site. The facilities are deemed critical for the continual operations of the client-agency, and this position necessitates demonstrated expertise, a high comfort level, and proficiency in managing critical mission infrastructure. The perfect candidate will be a seasoned technical leader and a versatile resource in areas of general construction and building systems, ensuring that all activities and project development for critical missions are within budget and on time.

    Key responsibilities will include (but are not restricted to):

    • Offer project management and technical assistance for operations and maintenance, design development, project implementation, and construction completion.
    • Conduct on-site assessments of physical plant conditions to recommend preventive maintenance practices, plant upgrades, building enhancements to support plant operations, and long-term equipment replacement strategies.
    • Conduct facility condition risk evaluations, gap analyses, and report findings for management.
    • Help gather and report data for environmental, sustainability, and energy management compliance initiatives.
    • Support office relocation projects to lessen occupant disturbances.
    • Support business case analyses, preparation of Statements of Work (SOW), Rough Order of Magnitudes (ROM), construction estimates, budgets, capital investment review, and earned value analysis.

    Required Experience & Skills

    • 5 to 10 years of construction project management experience, particularly in facilities and data centers.
    • 5 to 10 years of involvement in mission-critical facility support, plan and specification review, small to medium project design development, basic related calculation validation, project scheduling, and ROM cost estimation.
    • Strong communication skills, including the capacity to produce grammatically correct technical documents.
    • Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills working with an engineering and management team and be adept at contributing to the overall management of various projects.
    • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and/or daily guidance.
    • Thorough knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and Project Management software.
    • Capability to pass a federal contracting security screening process.
    • Must be able to commute to an office location in Anchorage, AK.

    Preferred Experience & Skills

    • Proficiency in manipulating and interpreting AutoCAD drawings.
    • Competence in AutoCAD to create medium complexity plans promptly.
    • Technical expertise in HVAC, BMS, Fire/Life Safety, Access Control, and Security Surveillance Systems.

    Required Education

    • Bachelor's degree.
    • Engineering degree related to infrastructure, construction management, and/or physical plant systems. Equivalent experience and relevant certifications may be considered with substantial quantifiable experience.

    *Our roles may necessitate a background screening and clearance directly from the Government.
