Summary

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Executive Staff & Offices/Administrative Law Judges


This position's primary purpose is to the support the Office of Administrative Law Judges, reporting to the Chief Administrative Law Judge and the Adjudication Operations Manager.

The incumbent manages all administrative duties for the office.

As a Staff Assistantyour typical work assignments may include:
Track all incoming suspense correspondence by maintaining an accurate suspense status.
Assist with travel arrangements for frequent travel.

Assist with the coordinating with the visiting organization, scheduling transportation arrangements, accommodations and other items necessary for completing trip itinerary.

Determine pertinent issues and collects relevant information from a wide variety of sources.

Work schedule for this position is: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.


Qualifications:


You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrate your ability in: 1) Scheduling meetings, preparing and distributing meeting materials, such as agendas and other supporting documentation; 2) Receiving and reviews incoming correspondence prepared for the signature and approval of senior management; 3) Tracking requests and communication to ensure timely and accurate responses; and, 4) Developing and maintaining a variety of hard copy files and records that involves the operations of the office, as well as computerized databases of key documents.

Education:

Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.B.

or J.D., if related.

Combination of education and experience:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18.

Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.).

You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrate your ability in: 1) Tracking pending action items and confirming staff responsibilities and timelines for completion; 2) Planning and coordinating travel, accommodations and transport for senior officials and special guests; 3) Working closely with senior officials in management and meeting planning, coordinating policy activities, analyzing logístical issues and recommending alternatives; and, 4) Developing internal operating procedures to ensure efficiency and consistency with administrative and office procedures.

D.

or equivalent doctoral degree; OR (3) full academic years of graduate level education leading to such a degree; OR LL.M., if related.
