    Description


    The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the accounting function of the Company's operations providing accounting support to the CFO, and will include general ledger activities, month-end financial close through financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and other accounting related activities.

    Provides hands-on support in all areas of the accounting cycle such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, property management and general ledger as needed.


    RESPONSIBILITIES
    :


    Applies knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to the preparation of journal entries for posting to the general ledger, financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

    Performs daily, weekly, monthly tasks pertaining to assigned accounting cycle functions. Accountable for training program staff on accounting processes. Oversees monthly reconciliation of assigned ledger accounts and schedules.

    Supports and maintains the document management system to ensure sufficient documentation exists for all transactions recorded in the general ledger and appropriate sub-ledgers.

    Assist with processing rent batches and accounts payable from property management and NAC operations and reconciles between the two databases.

    Maintains and monitors the Monthly Calendar of Fiscal activity used to establish work-day targets for the completion of various financial tasks within the monthly accounting close cycle; develops and maintain checklists to ensure all scheduled entries are accounted for during the close process.

    General Ledger:

    Responsible for Prepaids, insurance allocations, space allocations, etc.; maintaining schedules and reconciliations. Ensure that fixed asset management policies and procedures are in place and consistently utilized.
    Payroll:

    Manage biweekly payroll.

    Including, but not limited to:

    reviewing new hire information and benefit enrollment; manage payroll expense allocations; 401K contributions; Monthly reconciliation and maintenance of payroll files; Assist with year-end reconciliation of payroll in preparation of year-end audit.

    Accounts Payable:

    Oversee and assist with daily duties associated with payables functions including processing of invoices, maintenance of AP files; serve as backup to Accountant for processing checks and EFT's.

    Assist in year-end reconciliation of AP/AR subsidiary ledger accounts in preparation of year-end audit.
    Reviews and submits for payments, reimbursements, government & tribal payment on accounts, HUD and government vouchers, checks, etc. Assist CFO with grant tracking budgeted expenses to actuals.
    Regulatory:

    Assist with preparation and updates of process documentation related to all accounting functions and regulatory agencies.

    Assist with external (3rd party) and internal (Agency) financial statement, tax, program, and other audits and reviews, including preparation of schedules and work papers.

    Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients.

    Comply with internal controls policies & procurement procedures, solve accounting issues and interface with external and government auditors, assist and support annual audit ensuring timely deliverables and provide details and back up as needed.

    Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
    Performs other duties as assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
    :

    BS in Accounting/Finance or related degree.
    Five or more years of general ledger accounting experience, with 3 years of non-profit accounting experience.
    Knowledge of fund & cost accounting with nonprofit experience.
    QuickBooks Online (Enterprise) experience required.
    Proficiency in other non-profit accounting is essential as well as proficiency in Excel.
    Real Estate Development and Construction Industry work experience beneficial; project financial tracking.
    Possess strong communication skills.
    Able to effectively interact with others in a positive and professional environment.
    Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem- solving and organizational and time management skills.
