    The Center for People is a thriving non-profit organization dedicated to offering innovative services and programs to the low-income community in Lincoln, Nebraska. Our goal is to address basic needs and provide opportunities for individuals to achieve financial independence. With a history dating back to 2003, we have been actively combating poverty in the region. As the primary partner of Lincoln's Food Bank, we supply food to over 5,400 low-income families. Additionally, we host the city's first Diaper Bank to meet the increasing demand for diapers in our area. Education plays a crucial role in assisting low-income individuals in attaining economic autonomy. Hence, the Center has developed educational and training initiatives to help people secure employment with a sustainable income.

    We are currently seeking a talented Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist to join our team. As a full-time role based in Lincoln, this position entails 40 hours of work per week on-site.

    The Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist will play a vital role in effectively communicating our social mission, vision, and values. They will oversee the organization's visual identity system (VIS), ensuring uniformity across all internal and external communication channels and digital marketing platforms. In this capacity, the Specialist will be responsible for creating, distributing, managing, and enhancing content across various platforms to reach diverse audiences. These platforms include the annual report, newsletters, press releases, social media channels, the website, special events, fundraising campaigns, and donor appeals. Utilizing online platforms to boost our brand and services is a key aspect of this role. Moreover, they will manage media relations and actively seek opportunities to promote the Center for People on both a local and national scale. Additionally, the Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist will work on fostering collaborative relationships with journalists, influencers, community stakeholders, and public figures.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conceptualize, plan, and implement a communications and digital strategy to strengthen brand positioning and increase community awareness
    • Generate compelling and relevant content for various channels such as the website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and other marketing materials
    • Stay updated on industry trends, keywords, and audience preferences to produce high-quality marketing content that resonates with target audiences
    • Utilize analytics tools to monitor metrics like website traffic, engagement, and ROI for data-driven decision-making and continuous optimization of marketing strategies
    • Collaborate with team members to develop content ideas aligned with organizational objectives, messaging, and brand standards
    • Ensure content is engaging, accurate, and tailored to specific target audiences
    • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage and raise awareness of the organization's mission and initiatives
    • Prepare press releases, media pitches, and other materials to announce news, events, and campaigns
    • Coordinate media interviews, equip spokespeople with relevant messaging, and serve as a spokesperson when necessary
    • Facilitate internal communications to keep staff informed about organizational updates, events, and accomplishments
    • Provide communications and brand identity support for special events, appeals, and fundraisers
    • Participate in special events as a brand ambassador and document the proceedings
    • Maintain the organization's visual identity system to ensure consistency across all communication channels
    • Monitor brand performance metrics and offer recommendations for enhancement
    • Stay informed about branding trends to support visibility and brand positioning
    • Support strategic leadership in alignment with organizational goals
    • Adhere to all contracts, governmental regulations, and Center for People policies and procedures
    • Display high integrity and uphold ethical professional boundaries
    • Maintain a flexible work schedule to fulfill organizational requirements, including occasional evening and weekend work
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Understanding of the digital landscape
    • Analytical and critical thinking abilities
    • Capability to work independently and collaboratively with others
    • Effective project management and time management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe software, and Canva in a Windows environment
    • Familiarity with various email programs, website platforms, messaging tools, cloud services, and applications
    • Willingness to learn new software programs
    • Ability to receive and implement constructive feedback for content creation
    • Personal accountability in fulfilling job responsibilities, meeting deadlines, and taking initiative
    • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Promote teamwork and maintain positive interactions with colleagues and departments
    • Exhibit professionalism, courtesy, tact, and sound judgment

    DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    Preferably, a post-secondary education in graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field, OR a minimum of 4 years of experience in graphic design, marketing, or communications. Familiarity with AP Style Guide and proficiency in multiple languages are advantageous.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required
    • Valid Nebraska driver's license and current vehicle insurance
    • Authorized to work in the United States

    WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT

    The physical demands of this role involve talking, hearing, sitting, standing, and walking. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus while using a computer. Work predominantly takes place indoors, with occasional local travel for networking and community events. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is necessary.
