    General Duties:

    1. Health Assessments: Conduct health screenings and assessments to evaluate students' health status, including vision, hearing, and other health concerns.
    2. First Aid and Emergency Care: Provide immediate care and treatment for injuries, illnesses, and medical emergencies that occur during school hours.
    3. Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications to students as needed, ensuring compliance with medication protocols and parental consent.
    4. Chronic Disease Management: Manage the care and monitoring of students with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, allergies, and epilepsy.
    5. Health Education: Educate students, staff, and parents on topics related to health promotion, disease prevention, and wellness practices.
    6. Health Counseling: Provide counseling and support to students regarding health-related issues, including nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and substance abuse prevention.
    7. Collaboration: Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and healthcare providers to coordinate care and support for students with special health needs.
    8. Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential health records for students, including documentation of assessments, treatments, and communications with parents and healthcare providers.
    9. Health Promotion Programs: Develop and implement health promotion programs and initiatives within the school community, such as immunization clinics, health fairs, and wellness activities.
    10. Policy Development: Assist in developing and implementing school health policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state regulations and best practices in school health services.
    11. Emergency Preparedness: Participate in developing and practicing emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff during emergencies and disasters.
    12. Continuing Education: Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in school nursing through continuing education and professional development opportunities.

    These duties may vary depending on the specific needs of the school population and the policies and practices of the school district.
