Description

To assist staff in operating an effective library-media center/Learning Commons.

In this capacity, the Library Teaching Assistants primary focus will be working directly with teachers and students to support and expand reading, writing, research, and technology skills.

This support includes assisting with research projects by educating students on the various platforms available to them and providing teachers with necessary resources to support and extend their lessons.

The Library Teaching Assistant manages the culture and physical space of the Learning Commons and assists in supervising students both inside and directly outside the space.

This position supports the schools curriculum by promoting information literacy and providing a library setting conducive to active and participatory learning and resource-based instructional practices.

Daily duties include supervising students, managing the collection and circulation of materials, helping users locate resources, and creating/maintaining a current 21st Century library resource environment.

Updating and Managing the Circulation database Assisting students with technology-related needs Maintaining organization and updating of print and non-print materials and resources Maintaining a positive customer service attitude in the library-media center Preparing materials for circulation Maintaining adequate records regarding use of materials and resources Processing purchase orders and receiving new materials and resources Maintaining an accurate inventory Organizing Book FairsMaintaining technology equipment Attending any training as specified by Administration Supporting and supervising students in their various uses of the library Maintaining community norms in the library Coordinating library-centered activities and clubs Assisting with library programs and displays
