Manufacturing Engineer - California, United States - The Workshop
Description
A entry level to mid-level Manufacturing Engineer is needed for a successful premium denim brand that recently opened their own sewing factory in DTLA.
The Manufacturing Engineer will work alongside and be mentored by the Director of Product Engineering to get the factory up and running smoothly.
You will help with time study's, line balancing, layout design, and visual airs. This company is open to entry level up to 5 years of experience. It's a great role to LEARN in.Spanish speaking is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with Floor Manager to improve sewing floor efficiency, productivity and quality
Perform time studies on sewing operations to capture foundational manufacturing data
Perform regular cost analysis by operator, operation, style, etc. and make recommendations based on findings
Review and test new sewing methods and with a goal of reducing cycle times, increasing standardization and improving quality
Maintain base rates of each sewing operation based on difficulty, cycle time, etc.
Review and improve sewing floor layout to increase productivity
Regularly review operator performance and complete line balancing exercises to advise Floor Manager on operator schedules
Identify causes of downtime and determine ways reduce waste
Regularly report on factory performance in terms of efficiency, profitability, output and quality
Work with quality team to implement a in-line audit program, catching errors before they make it to the next process step
Define operator training curves, collect and analyze operator performance against those curves
Identify bottlenecks or risk areas in production line and recommend equipment purchases and/or automation suggestions
Position Requirements:
BS in engineering, business or a related field
Experience defining and improving processes
Ability to read and understand production drawings and specifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong command over data management methodology and tools such as MS Excel or MS Access
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
This role is onsite, full time in Vernon.
Salary: 50-75k DOE
