- The chief responsibility of the senior accountant is to maintain general ledger accounts and related activities to produce financial statements and reports
- Reconcile, analyze, and review general ledger accounts in preparation for the month-end close process
- Prepare journal entries with the review for accuracy and evaluate accounting classifications in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles(GAAP)
- Ensure monthly accruals, allocations, and other complex journal entries are accurate as new information is obtained
- Prepare, review, and submit documentation in support of external and internal audits
- Assist with the month-end and quarter-end close process, understanding and utilizing the appropriate information systems and technology
- An ideal senior accountant candidate will assist in evaluating, recommending, maintaining, and monitoring appropriate internal controls and related documentation
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- Proficient with MS Word & Excel
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as a senior accountant is critical
- Experience in SAP Systems or similar large ERP system is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to manipulate spreadsheets, create pivot tables and summarize data from multiple sources

Our agriculture based metro client is seeking an individual to join their Finance Team as a Senior AccountantThis position will play an active role in the month-end close and financial reporting process, the ideal senior accountant candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong analytical, problem-solving, along with superior accounting skills and a strong desire to learn.

Our client is currently operating in a hybrid work model, 2 days in office @ their Mendota Heights location.
Process:
This team has success hiring senior accountant candidates on a temporary/contract to hire basis, thus 6-8 months as a contract employee through CFS(Creative Financial Staffing) before the opportunity to convert as a direct-hire employee.
Compensation:
The contract portion will be paid as a W2 hourly employee, with an ideal pay rate of $ $50.00/hr, benefits are eligible after 3 months on assignment.
The senior accountant position will convert at a range of $82-$89k/year, based on previous experience and qualifications, along with a full benefits package.
