Organization Summary


The LA Conservation Corps (the Corps) is a private, non-profit organization that has been helping at-risk young people develop themselves since 1986.

To date, more than 20,000 young people have participated in the Corps classes and service projects, learning new skills while contributing to the quality of life for all of us in the greater Los Angeles area.


Mission

The primary mission of the LA Conservation Corps is to provide at-risk young adults and school-aged youth with opportunities for success through job skills training, education and work experience with an emphasis on conservation and service projects that benefit the community.


Position Summary


The Administrative Assistant is in charge of carrying out day-to-day organizational tasks and facilitating efficient communication across departments, such as but not limited to; answer phones, manage office calendars, update databases and complete general clerical work and recordkeeping tasks.


Essential Functions

  • Answers phone calls and greets visitors.
  • Schedules appointments and maintains calendars.
  • Schedules and coordinates staff and other meetings.
  • Ensures the office runs smoothly.
  • Performs receptionist duties when needed.
  • Keeps an inventory of office supplies and orders new materials, as needed.
  • Collates and distributes mail.
  • Creates and maintains filling systems, reports, and other confidential documents.
  • Keeps track and submits required paperwork by due dates.
  • Maintains and organizes efiles associated with various platforms such as ArcGIS/Survey 12
  • Data entry and report generating utilizing various software platforms.
  • Attends required webinars, partner meetings, and trainings, as needed.
  • Punctuality and satisfactory attendance are essential functions of the job.
  • Working from home is not an option.
  • Provides facility maintenance oversight.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written); characterized by actively listening and ensuring respectful twoway communication.

  • Ability to effectively perform the physical requirements of the job, as well as train others.
  • Ability to effectively provide presentations, work demonstrations, and instruction to others to promote and establish of culture of safety.

  • Intermediate level of computer skills (Microsoft Office environment) including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Internet research.
  • High level of interpersonal skills, integrity and the ability to keep information confidential.

  • Passion for the Corps and ability to articulate its mission.

Education/Experience


High School Diploma or equivalency from an accredited institution required; AA and/or Bachelor's degree preferred AND at least two (2) years experience working and/or training young people of various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds OR any combination of experience and education that would achieve the desired outcome, as determined by the Chief Executive Officer.


Other Requirements

  • Must be COVID19 vaccinated and be able to provide supporting documentation.
  • Attend events and meetings in the community to support
