    Position Summary


    A Research Scientist position is available in the Department of Biochemistry immediately to investigate excitotoxicity as a manifestation of ferroptosis.


    Specifically, the project will:

    • Delineate cellular connections between NMDA Receptor-mediated calcium flux and excitotoxic morbidity.
    • Examine the potential of small molecules to mitigate the pathologic neurochemistry that characterizes glutamate and iron-dependent cytotoxicity.

    Minimum Qualifications


    • PhD or similar degree in biomedical sciences.
    Preferred Qualifications


    • Demonstrated expertise in electrophysiology and NMDA receptor mechanisms
    • Expertise in transduction and/or viral infection methods for gene delivery in mammalian cells, and/or isolation of brain tissue and cells from mouse and/or rat models.
    Physical Demands Salary Range $45,000 - $60,000 Additional Salary Information Work Hours

    Monday - Friday

    8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
