- Oversee the entire Cheer Program.
- Be committed to building an in-season and off-season competitive Cheer Program.
- Develop, monitor, supervise, train, and inspire student-athletes to cheer and uplift crowd.
- Build relationships with and have a willingness to coach both beginners and advanced student-athletes.
- Instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
- Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence.
- Cooperate in a timely manner, with the School Athletic Office and the District Athletic Department, in regard to information that might be pertinent and/or required periodically.
- Meet all requirements set forth by the District Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) n regard to the Coaches Tool Chest Training/Certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit.
- Follow CPS Policy as outlined in Coaches Handbook. Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference leagues, and OHSAA.
- Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
- Begin pre-season practices on the first day permitted for the sport.
- Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciples of the program.
- Set a positive example at all times and develop respect through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language, and conduct.
- Maintain suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
- Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
- Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve performances and coaching.
- Participate in Schools Event (i.e., Awards Programs, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc).
- Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport as well as use of good judgment in decision-making.
- Is competent in techniques of the sport and student-athletes respond positively to directions given.
- Is well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport as well as look at ways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques.
- Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching.
- Ensure that team is well prepared.
- Provides motivation for student-athletes to meet/exceed their goals. Stress the value of acceptable personal behavior by each student-athlete. Actively promote good sportsmanship at all times.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Fundraising experience
- Ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model.
- Demonstrated knowledge of skills associated with this sport.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Tumbling experience desired.
- Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate desired.
- Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is desired.
- Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI Fingerprint Check. Possess an Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit (PAP). Provide satisfactory completion of Coaches Tool Chest Training/ Certification.
