    What you get to do:
    The Vice President of Design & Engineering is a member of the Orlando Parks Senior Leadership team, providing executive-level oversight, guidance, and technical leadership for SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica Orlando, and Discovery Cove


    You will:
    Administer and execute all aspects of the park's capital improvement budget
    Ensure strict adherence to established project budgets & schedules and all company policies and procedures
    Efficiently manage external designers, architectural and engineering consultants, vendors, and construction industry professionals
    Provide leadership, management, and direction for all areas of the Design & Engineering department

    Provide leadership in developing the park's strategic plan with specific focus on capital investment in attractions, facilities, and infrastructure improvements.

    Plan and implement all capital improvement projects in accordance with the park's annual and five-year capital investment plan
    Oversee scheduling, document preparation, permitting, bidding, contract negotiation and construction administration phases of all capital improvement projects
    Serve as park liaison to the Corporate Attraction group. Coordinate and support park departmental input and criteria, and actively participate in or manage all phases of major project development
    Oversee consultants' design work to ensure compliance with established standards and project schedules
    Monitor construction in progress to ensure compliance with design intent, contract documents, safety and environmental initiatives, established budgets, and schedules
    Provide oversight and leadership in a collaborative effort to ensure the design and construction of new attractions and facilities complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the standards for accessible design
    Serve as a key park technical resource for all code compliance, infrastructure, safety, and other technical and/or engineering related issues
    Ensure adherence to all capital policies and procedures
    Develop and administer the Design & Engineering department expense budget
    Provide motivation, direction, coaching, and performance feedback to D&E staff


    What it takes to succeed:
    Must possess Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
    Minimum ten years' experience managing multiple and complex commercial construction projects simultaneously
    Must have strong organizational skills
    Must be highly motivated, strategic & creative
    Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
    Must be able to analyze complex issues & develop effective plans and strategies
    Must be able to effectively lead a diverse group of design, engineering, and construction professionals and promote a healthy team environment
    Must be able to recognize, promote & leverage creative talent
    Must possess technical & functional knowledge of architecture and the means and methods of construction

    Must demonstrate knowledge of site utility distribution systems and all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, etc.

    Must possess or be in the process of pursuing professional license/registration.
    Master's level degree in related field preferred
    Professional license in architecture or engineering preferred
    Theme park attraction project management experience preferred
