    Job Summary

    The College of Humanities is seeking a Development Specialist to support advancement activities for the College of Humanities, working toward the overall goal to secure funds for the college's mission to _question the world around us to better understand our place within it.

    _

    The Development Specialist supports fundraising and alumni relations for the College of Humanities by coordinating many essential functions, including gift stewardship, gift processing, grant management, reporting, record keeping, special events, and other administrative processes that support college development efforts.


    Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Specialist is a key member of the College of Humanities Development team.

    The Development Specialist will be responsible for the following activities, coordinating many of the essential processes and functions that drive fundraising and alumni relations for the 7 departments, 7 interdisciplinary programs, and 8 academic centers that make up the College of Humanities.


    • Assists in organizing and implementing fundraising campaigns and special development projects for the College of Humanities.
    • Plans, develops, and manages specific programs and events centered on development activities and Humanities alumni relations.
    • Coordinates donor stewardship process, including annual endowment reports, impact reports, acknowledgement letters, and ongoing donor stewardship.
    • Coordinates grant submission and reporting process, in coordination with college departments, programs and centers, working with designated areas to prepare, submit, and report on College of Humanities private grant portfolio.
    • Manages and interfaces with multi-faceted data systems, including donor CRM to keep accurate records.
    • Support donor cultivation efforts by researching prospective donors, preparing segmented donor lists, scheduling visits, coordinating mailings, managing special events, and supporting administrative processes for the development team.
    • Assists with design and implementation of new ideas and programs. Evaluates effectiveness and makes recommendations for change.
    • Identifies and maintains confidential information on alumni, donors, and prospective donors.
    • Works alongside marketing and communications team to develop and distribute materials and literature supporting development activities, campaigns, programs.
    • Works alongside finance team and department leadership to ensure donor funds are accurately reported on and stewarded appropriately.
    This position does not directly supervise others.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

    Experience which includes fundraising, grant and publication writing, planning and implementing special events and programs and a successful track record in raising donations is preferred.
