    We're looking for a Child Care Licensing Supervisor (Social & Health Program Consultant 4) to join our team to administer policies to ensure the protection, health, safety, and well-being of children.


    The Opportunity:


    As a Child Care Licensing Supervisor (SHPC4), you will function as the first-line supervisor for a unit of child care licensing staff.

    You will assign, prioritize, and review work assignments.

    You will provide consultation and direction in the handling of work assignments by delegating duties to subordinate staff as appropriate.

    You will schedule unit staff to ensure maximum service to customers while working to meet staff needs


    Some of what you'll do:

    • Assign, delegate, prioritize, and review work assignments.
    • Provide consultation and direction to staff regarding customer services.
    • Recruit and interview new staff and recommend hiring to the Area Administrator (AA).
    • Develop training plans for staff and train new and existing staff in the laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing their job assignment including the use of online licensing tools and other applicable computer systems.
    • Inform the unit of new agency policies and procedures and ensure that the unit reads, acknowledges, and follows all DCYF policies and procedures.
    • Arrange for training and specific job assignments and career development for staff and ensure all staff completes required training.
    • Communicate with the AA regarding necessary personnel and licensing issues within the unit. Ensures the unit complies with DCYF's Public Records policy and procedure.
    • Monitor accuracy and timeliness of completion of the process for applications, monitoring visits, complaints, and follow-up.
    • Ensure that the unit completes all licensing applications within a 90-day timeframe in accordance with RCW

    Required Qualifications:
    One year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 3 or equivalent,

    OR

    Two years of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 2 or equivalent,

    OR

    A Master's degree in social work, health or social science, public administration, or a related field, AND four years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs,

    OR


    A Bachelor's degree in social work, health or social science, public administration, or a related field, AND five years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.

    A degree in Social Work must be from an educational program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

    Degree must be obtained from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent verified by a NACES-approved organization at

    Foreign Equivalency certification must be attached to the application for degrees obtained outside the U.S. Incomplete applications may be screened out of the recruitment process.

    In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:


    Demonstrated knowledge of:

    • Child development.
    • Risk assessment and decision making.
    • Research and applying law and regulations.
    • Interviewing techniques.
    • The role of expert representative in both court proceedings and multi-disciplinary team service delivery,
    • Concepts of group work and group dynamics; current literature on early care and education practices; concepts of community organization as applied to the development of community resources.
